Last October, I was getting a facial when my aesthetician mentioned something interesting.
"You know, we charge $649 for our LED therapy sessions, but the technology is actually pretty simple," she said, adjusting the professional LED panel over my face. "It's just specific wavelengths of light—630 nanometers of red light and 850 nanometers of near-infrared. That's it."
I did the math. I'd been going monthly for LED treatments. That's $7,788 per year.
"Can I just buy one of these machines?" I asked.
She laughed. "The professional ones cost $15,000. But..." she lowered her voice, "there are some at-home versions now that use the exact same wavelengths. Just don't tell my boss I told you that."
